The Royal Wedding

By Peachy Impressions, Oct 16 2018 12:37PM

Now that we’ve had a few days to enjoy all of the incredible memorable moments of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding let’s take a closer look at the best bits. The wedding of the ninth in line to the throne was watched by her grandmother, the Queen and Prince Philip, along with other members of the royal family, friends and the world. Despite the expected rain, it stayed dry which was more so appreciated by the 1,200 members of the general public chosen by ballot to follow the proceedings from the grounds of Windsor Castle. I did enter, but sadly wasn’t chosen, finger crossed maybe next time.

I thought Princess Eugenie looked beautiful, radiant and was beaming from ear to ear as the world watched her marry the man of her dreams. Her wedding dress by Peter Pilotto and Christopher Devos was romantic, elegant and maybe not what we all imagined it would be like. The open back, long flowing train, long sleeves and lace detail took my breath away as she gracefully walked the steps of St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle with her proud father Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Her bouquet was traditionally arranged in a tear drop shape with lily of the valley, blue thistle, white roses and trailing ivy to match her Greville Kokoshnik tiara with beautiful rose-cut diamonds set in platinum, with six emeralds which was lent to her by Her Majesty the Queen, made by Boucheron in 1919

Six very lucky bridesmaids and two page boys waved enthusiastically at the crowds as they approached the chapel, negotiating the steps in high winds. Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, was maid of honour. Jack Brookbank chose his brother, Thomas to be his best man. All looked fabulous, and I’m sure you will agree that bride and groom must be very proud of the many happy memories they helped to create.

Proud mother of the bride Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York looked absolutely stunning in a gorgeous emerald green dress by local Windsor designer Emma Louise which was matched with a Jess Collet emerald green hat. But it was her bag that everyone was talking about. Her vintage clutch bag by Manolo Blahnik belonged to her mother Susan Barrantes, who carried it at her own wedding when she married Prince Andrew in 1986.

Jack Brooksbank was not surprisingly very nervous. Jack admitted he was terrified about some aspects of the wedding but very excited. Jack overcame his nerves by whispering beautiful words to his bride as she approached him at the altar. Throughout the service Princess Eugenie and Jack held hands and gazed into each other’s eyes to support each other and show the world the love they have for each other. This was sealed with a kiss for the cameras on the steps of the chapel after the service.

The couple travelled from St Georges Chapel into Windsor, before heading for their afternoon reception which was hosted by the Queen in St George’s Hall at the castle followed by an evening reception at the York family home, Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

It was inevitable there would be many comparisons with other royal weddings. Prince Harry’s wedding to Megan Markle and Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton brought the country to a standstill but there was a feeling that a more low-key celebration was actually quite welcome.

Princess Eugenie and Jack make a beautiful unique couple; full of life, love, kindness and fun.
